Advanced level qualifications

Choosing advanced placement level exams is very important. Our candidates normally take qualifications in five subjects, and their programme includes three oral exams. The exams will cover their Secondary 12 course, but will also assess the competencies (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) acquired in previous years, especially those from Secondary 11.

Some higher education institutions make admission offers based on the subjects students have taken as student matriculation exams, and in some cases also on the grades obtained. Therefore, students should enquire about the requirements for the higher studies they wish to follow prior to making their choices, and it is advisable to start this process beginning in Secondary 11. They may contact our college counsellor and instructors for guidance.

Our default student examination candidate should choose external written qualifications in mathematics (at a level advanced beyond calculus), (calculus-based) physics, and chemistry, to go with exams in macroeconomics and literature, and our internal oral exams in English, 哲学 (zhéxué, philosophy) in Mandarin, and in mathematics (at a further level).

We offer four post-secondary diploma programmes, each preparing for five AP exams in three A level subjects, as these provide our students with the optimal flexibility in qualifying for leading universities around the world. In Multidisciplinary Sciences and Humanities, the advanced subjects are Mathematics, Calculus-based Physics, and Chemistry; in Health Sciences, they are Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics; in Social Science, they are Mathematics, History, and Economics; and in Literature and Communications, they are Literature (in English), Chinese (or another modern language), and Mathematics.

Students successfully completing any of these four programmes of studies with 168 tariff points and grades of at least BBC in their principal subjects can receive our One World College Diploma.
