In the elementary school years, the focus is on the English language, mathematics, the
first additional modern language, and science, but social humanities of the living environment, art, music, physical education, and moral education are also important -- as are social, cultural, & games learning activities, where mixed nationalities meet.
All periods in the table below last for 45 minutes. The table also indicates teaching languages during the periods -- either English, an additional language such as Chinese or Arabic, a third modern language, or a classical one, in addition to our physical education and music periods, when pupils from our first two streams are to be mixed:
